Insurance and Payment Information at Zen Medicine

Welcome to Zen Medicine! We are committed to providing exceptional care and personalized treatments for all our patients. Below, we outline our approach to insurance and payment options, as well as the benefits of choosing a medical office that operates outside traditional insurance models.

Insurance Acceptance and Super-Bills

Please note that Zen Medicine operates as a cash-based medical facility, meaning we do not accept insurance directly. However, we do provide super-bills that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. This allows you to potentially recover some of the costs associated with your care.

Insurance for Blood Work: At Zen Medicine, our blood tests are more comprehensive than those typically offered by conventional doctors. We find that most insurance plans cover the costs of blood work, but we recommend that you contact your insurance carrier to confirm their coverage. The cost of blood work can range up to $6,000, which is why we offer a private lab service that performs all our testing for a flat fee of $555. If your out-of-pocket expenses with your insurance carrier exceed $555, you may prefer to use our private lab. This service provides the added convenience of home or office blood draws, ensuring that you receive thorough and accessible testing at a significantly reduced cost.

Insurance for Medications: While some medications may be covered by insurance, others may not be. Our practitioners will advise you on what is typically covered. Before beginning any treatments, we suggest you verify with your insurance company which expenses they will reimburse.

Payment Options

At Zen Medicine, we strive to make our services as accessible and affordable as possible.

  • Afterpay: We offer the option of Afterpay, a financial service company that allows you to enjoy 0% financing, making your purchases more affordable with manageable payment plans. With Afterpay, you can spread the cost of your purchase over four equal installments, due every two weeks, without any interest or hidden fees, as long as payments are made on time. To take advantage of this convenient payment method, simply set up your Afterpay account through the following link: Afterpay Login. Please note that Afterpay is available for purchases up to a maximum limit of $2,000.
  • Credit Cards: We accept all major credit cards for your convenience. Please note that a processing fee of 4% will be automatically applied to all credit card transactions. To avoid this fee, we encourage our customers to consider making payments via cash or check, which will allow you to save the 4% processing fee.
  • Cash, Check, Money Orders: We accept cash, checks, and money orders as additional payment options, providing flexibility and convenience for our patients.

Benefits of Choosing a Cash-Based Medical Office

Opting for a doctor who does not accept insurance can offer several advantages:

  1. Personalized Care: Without the constraints of insurance regulations, practitioners can spend more time with patients, providing more thorough evaluations and personalized treatment plans.
  2. Access to Innovative Treatments: Cash-based practices are not limited by insurance-approved treatments and can offer a wider range of holistic and integrative therapies.
  3. Transparent Pricing: Patients receive clear, upfront pricing for all services, reducing the confusion and unexpected costs often associated with insurance billing.
  4. Enhanced Privacy: Cash-based medical facilities offer greater privacy, as they are not required to share your medical information with insurance companies. This ensures that your health records remain confidential and secure.

Reasons Some Medical Offices Do Not Accept Insurance

Many medical offices, including Zen Medicine, choose not to accept insurance for several important reasons:

  1. Time Constraints: Insurance carriers often limit the amount of time practitioners can spend with each patient. This can lead to rushed appointments and insufficient time to address all of a patient’s needs thoroughly. At Zen Medicine, we honor our patients’ time. There is no wait, as we only book one patient at a time, allowing ample time for each consultation.
  2. Treatment Limitations: Insurance companies may restrict the types of treatments and tests that can be provided, limiting the practitioner’s ability to offer comprehensive and personalized care.
  3. Administrative Burden: The paperwork and administrative tasks required to process insurance claims can be extensive, taking away valuable time that could be spent on patient care.
